As human beings, we were created with the ability to choose.
Every day of our lives is the fruit of our decisions.
We are faced with a new opportunity - to start over.
It means we have to humble ourselves, swallow our pride & depend solely on the mercy of our Father.
Our desire in our life is to start something new & that lead us to the best decision ever: An encounter with our Father.
Sadly many young people today allow rebellion in their hearts.
They will think that submitting to the authority & discipline restricts their freedom.
They consider themselves to be the authors of their own destinies & believe that their parents will never be able to advise them on how to run their lives.
The prodigal son's actions:
1. He moved far away to a distant land.
2. He wasted his possessions by living frivolously there.
3. He squandered everything.
*Luke 15:17-18
"When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.'"
Good thing he realized in time during one of his dismal moments in his life, wherein he feeds the pigs.
In order to humble ourselves to God, we must admit what we have done wrong in our lives & we have also to admit that we are weak without God. It also means we have swallow our pride.
Set apart some time today to humble ourselves to God & desire to be reconciled to Him with all your heart.
*Psalm 51:17
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.
REMEMBER:
WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RETURN TO GOD'S LOVING ARMS - BUT DOING SO IS A PERSONAL DECISION.
